Bedford CF Overview

The Bedford CF is classed as a light commercial van and was produced by the British automobile manufacturers Bedford Vehicles. This van was in production from 1969 to 1988 and was also known across the rest of Europe as the Opel Bedford Blitz. There are not many of these vehicles seen on the roads these days but people who have them say they are fun to drive, not too bad on fuel and real classic British vehicles. They are known for having a lot of problems, but what do you expect from such old vehicles. Does this sound anything like your experience of the Bedford CF?

Bedford CF History

The Bedford CF was introduced in 1969 as a replacement for the Bedford CA and was seen as a strong competitor to the Ford Transit. Immediately this van was to prove very popular and along with the Ford Transit, were the most popular vans on the roads of the UK. There were LWB (Long Wheel Base) and SWB (Short Wheel Base) versions and a variety of engines available, depending on which version. There was a facelift in 1980, mainly affecting the engine range and the front end of the vehicle, which made access to the engine easier. In 1984 the CF2 was introduced which looked exactly the same as the previous version but with some mechanical updates.
