Citroen C3 Overview

The Citroen C3 is a supermini car designed by the French motor vehicle company Citroen. Citroen is part of the PSA group, which works in accordance with Peugeot. This is a highly competitive car of its class, but there are a few things that seem to let it down. The handling isn’t very good and there is not much room in the rear for passengers, compared with some of its competitors. The positive things about it are: it is stylish, reliable and a good drive.

Citroen C3 History

The first generation C3 (2002-09) has many design similarities with the Peugeot 206 and was available in many different engine sizes. The design of this vehicle was kept basic and they wanted to keep in line with the economical, practical side of a super mini car. In 2003 the C3 Pluriel was brought in, this was a convertible version. In 2006 the body took a bit of a re-design with the front grille, bumper and other parts being changed. The interior had a bit of a makeover as well.

The second generation C3 (2009 - present) had the revolutionary windscreen design of the C4 Picasso installed as well as some other exterior changes, such as: lights and bonnet. This vehicle is also longer and wider than its predecessor. This is the current version in production.

Fuel Economy

There are 1.1, 1.4 and 1.6L engines available in petrol and 1.4 and 1.6 in diesel. As one would expect with a supermini, the fuel economy is good on this car. The 1.4 and 1.6 diesels are especially good, but the whole range is pretty economical.

Transmission

There is a five speed manual gearbox available for all models. There is also a 6-speed manual available for the 1.6HDi 16V and a 4-speed automatic for the 1.6VTi 16V. The SensoDrive semi-automatic gearbox is used for the stop and start model.
