Fiat Punto Overview

The Fiat Punto is in the supermini class and is produced by the Italian car manufacturing company Fiat. This car was first built as a replacement for the Fiat Uno. The latest versions of the Fiat Punto have a stylish looking design, are very spacious inside, especially for a supermini car and the engines are very economical. The problems with this car are the low resale values and overall they are not as well built as their rivals VW Polo and Ford Fiesta.

Fiat Punto History

The first generation Fiat Punto (1993-99) replaced the Uno in 1993, and by 1995 had won the European car of the year. This cars good design, which was designed by Italian Giorgetto Giugiaro and its cheap price compared with its competitors meant it became an instant success. There were many different versions available across this range, including: sporting and GT versions. The second generation (1999-2010) had a restyle while ensuring that it remained in-line with the distinctive Punto design. This was the first Fiat for a long time to use the old style rounded Fiat badge to celebrate their centenary. In 2003 this car received a makeover which brought about a new engine range and changed some exterior parts including the headlights. In 2005 the Grande Punto was introduced which was a slighter bigger version of the Punto, and in 2009 this car was renamed the Punto Evo while giving this car a makeover.
