Mercedes E200 History

The first generation of the E-Class (1984-96) was introduced in 1984 and this was just a name change from the previous 190 series. The naming system was changed from 200E to E200 in 1993, which was when this was first used for the E200. This version had many innovative design features for its time. The second generation (1995-2003) version was much more luxurious than its predecessor, and took this vehicle up to the top end of the executive car class. It was much more expensive than the previous version due to certain design features. There was a face-lift version in 1999 which had some minor improvements. The third generation (2002-09) was seen as being able to compete with the long class leading BMW 5-series. The fourth generation (2009-present) is the current version on the market and gives this car a sportier, classier look.
