Peugeot 605 Overview

The Peugeot 605 is classed as an executive car which was produced by the French automobile manufacturing company Peugeot. This vehicle was in production from 1989 to 1999, replacing the Peugeot 604 and 505. In 1999 Peugeot released the 607 which replaced the 605. This vehicle was available as a 4 door saloon. The 605 was the luxurious Peugeot on the market at this time and was spacious, comfortable and had some good features. They were known for having a poor build quality and not having the best handling. They were cheap to buy compared with rivals and you can pick them up these days at very low prices. Does this sound anything like your experience of the 605?

Peugeot 605 History

The Peugeot 605 was first introduced in 1989 when it replaced both the 604 and 505. The 605 was only ever available as a saloon and was built on the same platform as the Citroen XM as they were built at the same factory. Peugeot and Citroen merged in 1975 to create the PSA Peugeot Citroen Group. These cars were the top executive cars of the Peugeot range but like previous Peugeot executive cars, they never really took off outside of France. They were also known for suffering with build quality issues, which affected their sales. A revamped version was introduced in 1995 sorting the reliability issues, a new interior design and making it a modern looking car for its time. This was to be the final car of Peugeots x05 range and ceased production in 1999 when it was replaced with the Peugeot 607.
