Ssangyong Rexton Overview

The Ssangyong Rexton is classed as a mid-sized SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) produced by the South Korean automobile manufacturers the Ssangyong Motor Company. This vehicle has been in production from 2001 up to the present day. It is designed on the Mercedes M-Class platform. These vehicles perform really well off-road and are pretty quiet on road. They have a car like drive with good handling and are very spacious and comfortable. They are not very well refined, lacks build quality and has poor safety features. Most models are well equipped. Ssangyong Rexton History

The first generation (2001-06) Ssangyong Rexton was introduced in 2001 and was only available in 4WD version. These vehicles are produced under licence from Mercedes-Benz and were not introduced to the European market until 2003. These vehicles are more like extended Ssangyong Musso’s. They are also available as 7-seaters and the vehicle had a slight makeover in 2004 to the engines. The second generation (2006-present) is known as the Rexton II and is pretty similar to its predecessor in many ways. There were many features added to this vehicle in 2010 to improve the vehicle economically and other areas such as enhanced braking. This is the current version in production.

Fuel Economy

The Ssangyong Rexton is available in 2.7 and 2.9 diesel and 3.2L petrol engines. The 2.7L engine is the most economical of the range, offering up to 32mpg.
