Vauxhall Belmont Overview
The Vauxhall Belmont is classed as a small family car which was produced by the British automobile manufacturing company Vauxhall Motors. Vauxhall Motors is the British subsidiary of the German manufacturers Opel. The Belmont is the saloon version of the Vauxhall Astra and was based on the popular European Opel Kadett E. This vehicle was in production from 1986 to 1991. It became popular due to the very large boot, which was larger than most on the market at the time. They were cheap to buy and were fairly reliable. Vauxhall Belmont History
The Vauxhall Belmont was released in 1986 and replaced the previous Vauxhall Astra Saloon. The Belmont is basically a saloon version of the Astra. The Belmont name was only ever used in the UK, and came at a time when most manufacturers were releasing saloon versions of their popular small family car hatchbacks. The main differences between the Astra and Belmont were a better interior design in the Belmont, more space in the cabin and a much larger boot. When the next generation Astra was introduced, the Belmont name was discontinued and renamed the Astra. The Belmont was proved to be the most stolen car in the UK in the early to mid 2000's.
