Vauxhall Insignia Overview

The Vauxhall Insignia is classed as a large family car and is produced by Vauxhall Motors, the British Subsidiary of the German automobile manufacturers Opel. This vehicle replaced the Vauxhall Vectra in 2008 and is the current large family car in the Vauxhall range. These cars are sold under the Opel marque in the rest of Europe, and the Vauxhall brand is exclusive to the UK. These cars look very stylish and have a classy looking interior design. They are generally well equipped and are good performers, but they lack refinement, particularly the diesel engines. The handling isn't very good and the driving position could be a lot better. There are better options in the large family car class. Does this sound anything like your experience of this car?

History

The Vauxhall Insignia became an instant success in the UK, becoming the ninth best selling car that year, breaking into the top ten straight away. It also won the European car of the year in 2009, under the Opel Insignia name. The Vauxhall version was the first Vauxhall car to use the new logo, and change from the typical 'V' grille design which has been used for many years. This vehicle is slightly larger than its predecessor the Vectra, and is available in saloon, hatchback and estate versions. This is the first car to feature the innovative traffic sign recognition system.
