Alfa Romeo 147 Overview
The Alfa Romeo 147 is a small family car manufactured by the Italian car company Alfa Romeo. It was brought into production to replace the 145 and 146 hatchback models back in 2000. The 147 is a real quality looking car which has won various styling awards and even won the European car of the year in 2001. This car has great handling, is fun to drive but there is very little leg room in the rear, which can make you feel a bit squashed.
Alfa Romeo 147 History
The Alfa Romeo 147 was in production from 2000 – 2010 and has been one of Alfa Romeos most popular selling cars. It was later replaced by the Alfa Romeo Guilietta in 2010. Even to this day the 147 still looks stylish and sells well as a used car.
In 2004 the 147 received a facelift which affected the headlights, front grille and minor changes to the interior. The body work was revamped that year as well to bring it line with the new 159 and Brera models of the Alfa Romeo collection.
Over the years there were several different sportier versions released, such as the: 1.9 JTD and the GTA models. The Alfa Romeo 147 has been praised for its handling, engine technology and competitive prices compared to the premium cars of this class such as: BMW and Audi, but has been criticised for its limited space and discomfort.

Fuel Economy
There are three
engine sizes available: 1.6, 2.0 and 3.2L in petrol and 1.9 in diesel. The 1.9 diesel was the most economical of the range, but overall, all but the 3.2 were good on fuel and are well designed engines. The 3.2 is not designed for its economy.
Transmission
There are 5 and 6 speed manual gearboxes and 5 and 6 speed semi-automatic gearboxes available. There is a section of the Breakeryard website that is focused on the Alfa Romeo
