BMW 6 Series Overview

The BMW 6 series is an executive coupe produced by the German car manufacturer BMW. This car was derived from the 5 series and was originally brought in to production to replace the 3.0CS and CSi. This car is superbly designed with an impressive engine and gearbox range available. It is very spacious inside and has a great interior. The fault some people associate with his model is that it isn’t as good a drive as it maybe should be.

BMW 6 Series History

The first generation E24 (1976-89) was brought out in August 1976 to replace the E9 coupe range. As it went on there were new engine sizes introduced to the range. The M6 was introduced, taking some of its design features from the M1. The second generation E63/64 (2003-10) changed the look of the 6-series and filled a gap left by the 8-series ceasing production. This design was based on the E60 5-series but was more concerned with performance than practicality which put the price bracket closer to the 7-series than the 5-series. Only the 7-series was more expensive than this range of BMWs. The third generation F12/13 (2011 - present) is the version currently in production. The F12 is the coupe and the F13 the convertible. The gran coupe became available in this generation.
