Mazda B2000 Overview

The Mazda B2000 is a pick-up truck from the Mazda B-series. This vehicle was produced by the Japanese motor company Mazda. In the b-series range the numbers after the B tells the engine size of the vehicle e.g. 2000 = 2.0. As Mazda has a partnership with Ford, this vehicle was also marketed  under the Ford brand as the Ford Courier, and later the Ford Ranger. This pick-up is seen as very reliable, cheap to buy, run and maintain compared with other pick-up trucks. You will get your moneys worth from this vehicle.

Mazda B2000 History

Before the introduction of the Mazda B2000 in 1980, the B-series had been running since 1961 in Japan as the B1500. In 1972 the B-series was introduced to the US as the B1600 and was now marketed as the Proceed in Japan.

The introduction of the B2000 in the fourth generation (1980-85) of the B-series brought this vehicle into the international market. In 1985 this engine received a makeover, making improvements on the previous version.

The B-series pick-ups were made in a fifth generation (1985-98) but the B2000 was only available until 1987. This was to be the end of production for this version of the B-series.

The B-series continued to be produced under different version until 2006 where they were replaced with the new Mazda BT-50.

Fuel Economy

The B2000 was to give an average of 21 mpg, which isn't to bad for this type of vehicle. When the engine was improved in 1985, this again slightly improved the economy of the vehicle. As the B2000 name means a 2.0 engine, and was only available in petrol then it was not as bad economically as some of its competitors.

Transmission

The gearboxes available were 5-speed manual and 3 speed automatic. The last version of this vehicle was also available in 4-speed automatic, which preceded the 3-speed automatic. Have a look at the Mazda gearbox section to locate your gearbox parts.
