Overall, the Daihatsu Sirion offered a reasonable level of standard equipment for the money. The next generation Daihatsu Sirion was based on the 2006 Toyota Yaris and was sold in Japan as the Boon. The new Sirion was designed for European tastes and was larger than the first generation. The next engine option was the 1.3 L four-cylinder which had 87 bhp and cuts the 0-62 spring down to 11.4 seconds. Added to the lineup in May 2008, the 1.5 L engine offers 103 bhp and a 0-62 time of 10.5 seconds. Even this more powerful engine averages 46 mpg.

The Sirion received a facelift at the end of 2006 and was exported to Europe in 2007. Since January 2013, Daihatsu cars are no longer sold in Europe.
