Audi A4 Common Problems and Solutions
Gearbox problems
Problem:
If you find that the gear changes are very hesitant or clunky when driving around town in an automatic, CVT, or Multitronic gearbox, it is known that these gearboxes can have software issues.
Solution:
You will need to take the car to an Audi dealer to have the software reprogrammed. This should resolve the issue. If the car is still under warranty, it will be repaired free of charge; otherwise, it is your responsibility.

It is known on the A4 that seat belt buckles tend to fail prematurely by not locking.
Solution:
You will need to fit replacement seat belt buckles to resolve this problem.

Problem:
The glove box lid not functioning correctly is a common issue on the A4, particularly the Avant model. If it rattles and won't open properly, it is known to wear out prematurely.
Solution:
You will need to replace the glove box lid to resolve the problem.

Rear window wiper problem
Problem:
The rear window wipers on the A4 Avant are particularly known to fail, often due to a malfunctioning wiper motor.
Solution:
Fitting a replacement wiper motor will fix the issue.

Water leaking into passenger foot well area
Problem:
Water often leaks into the passenger footwell because the plenum chamber becomes blocked with leaves and debris. Water flows down the windscreen and fills this chamber, which has a drainage hole. When the chamber is blocked, water spills into the passenger footwell. The plenum chamber supplies air to the air-conditioning system.
Solution:
