The BMW Z3 was produced by German automaker BMW from 1995, as the first mass produced mass-market roadster in the brand''s car line up. It was also the first new BMW model to be manufactured in the US, at BMW''s plant in Greer, South Carolina. The Z3 is also referred to as the E36/7, for the roadster variant initially introduced in 1995, and as the E36/8 for the coupe variant released later in 1999. The Z in Z3 stands for Zukunft, which means future in German. The Z3 proudly made a short appearance in the 1995 James Bond movie GoldenEye, which helped to boost sales overall.
