Citroen C3 Picasso (2008 - present)

After its introduction at the Paris Motor Show in 2008 the Citroen C3 Picasso was launched for the UK market in 2009, using a modified version of the platform used in the Citroen C3 and Peugeot 207 vehicles. The Trnava Plant used for the assembly of the C3 Picasso is also home to the Peugeot 207, making platform sharing easier. This reuse of car platforms is commonplace within the PSA group vehicles. 

C3 Picasso models come with a number of features as standard on different models, including ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, child locks, remote central locking and two front airbags. The C3 Picasso is only available as a five-seater, but the three rear seats can be folded flat to increase the boot capacity on all models. A hidden compartment to store the parcel shelf also helps to boost the overall amount of storage space. 

The C3 Picasso Exclusive and VTR+ models come equipped with a 1.6 litre VTi engine capable of reaching top speeds of 117 mph. This engine, along with a smaller 1.4 litre VTi petrol engine, was developed as a collaboration between PSA Peugeot Citroen and BMW, along with another 1.6 litre diesel engine and two 1.6 litre HDi Airdream engines. The Exclusive trim level is the most expensive available for each market, with the greatest choice of engines and features. 

A number of limited edition variants were released, including the Blackcherry limited edition trim level in the UK with a HDi 1.6 litre diesel engine and the Limited Edition 90th Anniversary C3 Picasso which was released in the UK in 2009, commemorating 90 years of Citroen.

In 2009 the Citroen C3 Picasso was awarded a four-star safety rating after vigorous Euro NCAP safety testing, although many of its direct competitors scored better. The C3 Picasso was penalised for its lack of whiplash protection for the driver, among other things. There have been a number of recalls on the C3 Picasso, including in 2010 due to issues with incorrectly routed fuel pipes, and in 2011 when the battery cable was found to be too short, causing gearbox failure issues.
