Honda Jazz Common Problems and Solutions
Jerky Driving
Problem:
The car jerks when you're driving.
Solution:
This will impact cars that have mostly been used for short trips rather than long drives. The jerky movement is caused by a blocked exhaust, which is a bit tricky to clean. You'll need to use a cloth for the exhaust tip and then a stiff-bristled brush for the inside of the exhaust. Afterwards, apply a degreaser to both the outside and inside. In some cases, a blocked exhaust can cause serious wear, which may mean replacing parts of the exhaust system. All of the exhaust components are available on our parts list, and they are very inexpensive.

Physical Key Not Working
Problem:
The doors neither lock nor unlock when you insert the key and turn it.
Solution:
This is a common flaw with the Jazz, which often experiences seized door locking mechanisms. The good news is that we always keep replacements in stock and can deliver your new locks when you place an order with us.

Power Windows Not Working
Problem:
The windows on your Jazz are not functioning and might be jammed in a fixed position.
Solution:
Although this is merely a faulty window control unit, it is a tricky job to fix because it involves removing the interior door panels. It's quite a labour-intensive task, but once they have been taken off, you'll be able to remove the unit and fit the new one that you've ordered from our parts list.

Increased Braking Distance
Problem:
It's taking considerably longer to stop completely than it used to.
Solution:
The factory-installed brake pads on the Jazz may be faulty and could wear down prematurely or even tear. You will need to order replacement brake pads, and the ones you get from Breakeryard will be much more durable.

Handbrake problem
Problem:
If you find that the handbrake is not holding the weight of the vehicle on a slight hill, then you most likely have a problem with the handbrake calliper.
Solution:
You will need to fit a replacement handbrake calliper to resolve the issue.

Juddering when taking off
Problem:
If you notice juddering during take-off, you probably need a gearbox fluid service. This issue mainly occurs with semi-automatic gearboxes (i-shift).
Solution:
As mentioned above, you will need to replace the gearbox fluid to resolve the issue. If you leave this too long, it could damage the clutch, which would then need replacing. This would be much more expensive than changing the gearbox fluid. Watch the video below to see how to change the fluid.

Electric windows problem
Problem:
If you notice a problem with the electric windows on your Jazz, it is often caused by a fault with the window switches. You might observe that the windows are slow to open or close, or they may not work at all.
Solution:
Honda will repair this under warranty if you still have one; otherwise, you will need to fit replacement window switches to resolve the issue.

Water leaking into boot compartment
Problem:
It is common for water to leak into the compartment inside the boot of these vehicles, which is located on the boot floor. When you open this compartment and find water or condensation, it is caused by water leaking in through the wheel arches during heavy rain. The water then enters the boot and collects in this compartment.
Solution:
If your vehicle is still under warranty, Honda will repair it free of charge; otherwise, you will need to replace the seal and clean the boot to resolve the problem.

Lack Of Headlight Illumination
Problem:
Your headlights are quite dim, which makes driving at night significantly more hazardous.
Solution:
This has led to a recall of the Honda Jazz due to a wiring issue. The wiring harness layout is problematic and will require adjustment. Honda has issued several guides to assist with the process, and if your Jazz is still under warranty, they will carry out the work free of charge.

Seat Belt Not Locking
Problem:
The rear centre seat belt will no longer secure properly, making it unsafe for passengers to use.
Solution:
This caused a recall of the Jazz, but it's a relatively simple fix. The issue stems from a faulty webbing sensor and requires you to browse our online store for a replacement seat belt assembly. This is a DIY task that should take around 30 minutes.
