Doors stiff to open
Problem:
On the Espace, it is common for the doors to be a bit stiff to open. The issue is caused by worn rubber trim catching, which in turn leads to the trim wearing away.
Solution:
You will need to replace the rubber trim to resolve this issue.

Problem:
It is quite common for these vehicles to experience various electrical issues. A warning light should appear on the dashboard to show the specific fault.
Solution:
Have a diagnostic check carried out on your vehicle to determine the precise fault, and take the appropriate action.

Problem:
On models with an electric handbrake, wiring issues or software faults are common. You might notice it doesn't activate when pressing the stop button or fails to deactivate properly when pulling away.

Have it checked to determine the exact cause of the failure, then you will need to either repair the wiring issue or update the software.

Problem:
Diesel models often face issues with EGR valves. If your vehicle struggles with power and acceleration at low speeds, it is probably a faulty EGR valve. This can also lead to increased oil consumption.
Solution:

Hot Liquid Hitting Occupants
Problem:
Hot liquid from the heater is causing injuries to occupants.
Solution:
This has led to a serious recall by Renault, caused by hot coolant leaking from the heater matrix. It usually leaks on the passenger side, but the wide spray can affect everyone in the vehicle. Renault has released a modified heater matrix, which you can order directly from us. It’s a fiddly installation, but should only take a few minutes.

Digital Speedometer Malfunction
Problem:
The speedometer is behaving erratically and might cease to function altogether.
Solution:
Although you can easily find a new digital speedometer on our parts list, fixing it yourself can be quite challenging. The speedo on the Espace is one of the most commonly reported faults, and you'll need to remove the entire dashboard to install a new one. There are online guides that will walk you through the process, but you'll need to set aside time and patience.

Spare Wheel Has Fallen Off
Problem:
Your spare wheel has come off.
Solution:
This issue is caused by the spare wheel winch cable, which has either seized or broken entirely. Order a modified spare wheel support cross member from our parts list, along with a new winch unit. Naturally, if you lost your spare wheel when it fell off, we can also supply a new one.
