About Trim

Trim is a general term for the cosmetic finish to the assembly method in the manufacture of vehicles. The trim tends to differ according to whether the vehicle is standard, mid-range or a luxury model.

Trim is found extensively on the interior and exterior of all vehicles.

Examples of Trafic Renault trim, on the exterior are plastic bumpers, chrome and rubber strips that protect the vehicle from bumps and scrapes.

Interior trim includes upholstery, carpeting and door panels etc.

Trafic Renault trim comes in different standards or levels, such as base, i.e. cloth upholstery, the least expensive; mid-level such as vinyl or faux leather upholstery, which is moderately expensive; and high end, the most expensive, which can include chrome strips, leather upholstery and wood grain trim.

Most trim is held in place with push pull fixings and/or screws.

Trafic Renault trim is usually replaced for reasons of damage due to general wear and tear.

Renault Trafic trivia

  • It’s Renault themselves that describe the Trafic as ‘an office on wheels’. The fold-out desk inside the cab is great, but the van has become the butt of jokes because the size of the smartphone/tablet holder is ridiculously small.
  • One of the main elements of driving a Renault Trafic that owners praise is the fact that it’s a lot of fun. That’s partly because of the manual override on the gear selector so that driving a Trafic feels like driving a race car.
  • The second version of the Renault Trafic was a collaboration between Japanese Nissan, German Opel, and French Renault. Truly a multicultural vehicle with something for everyone!
  • The Euro NCAP safety rating for occupant safety in a Renault Trafic was an impressive 91%!
  • There are a few special edition Renault Trafics, with the most famous one being the Formula Edition (designed to celebrate Renault’s relationship and standing in F1). In 2020, a Renault Trafic Black Edition was also introduced, which is a lot more expensive than a standard Trafic but looks a lot sportier.
