Skoda Octavia Common Problems and Solutions
Lack of power/stalling
Problem:
The throttle body is known for getting clogged up with a carbon build up. This problem causes a lack of acceleration and can lead to the car stalling at junctions etc. You may also notice that it coughs and splutters a bit when idling.
Solution:
You will need to remove the throttle body and clean it out with a tooth brush and some throttle body cleaner. This will sort the issue. Watch the video below to see how this is done:

Throttle BodyWater leak in passenger front footwell
Problem:
The plenum chamber can get clogged up with leaves and debris, which results in water leaking into the front passenger footwell. The plenum chamber is located next to the window wiper mechanism below the windscreen.
Solution:
Unblocking the holes on the plenum chamber will allow the water to drain through the holes instead of leaking into the front passenger footwell.

EGR ValveDPF warning light
Problem:
If the DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light has appeared on the dashboard it is most likely due to an issue with the DPF being blocked. Cars fitted with the DPF are not particularly well-suited for use in short journeys, such as around town. If they are only used in this situation then the DPF can unfortunately get clogged up.
Solution:
You can take your car out onto an open road and drive at around 2500 rpm in fourth gear for 5-10 miles, which allows the DPF to get hot enough to burn off those unwanted particles. This should turn off the DPF warning light on the dashboard. If the light stays on then it could be a faulty DPF sensor, or you may need to manually remove the DPF and clean it out.
