About Trim

Trim is a general term for the cosmetic finish to the assembly method in the manufacture of vehicles. The trim tends to differ according to whether the vehicle is standard, mid-range or a luxury model.

Trim is found extensively on the interior and exterior of all vehicles.

Examples of MG ZR MG trim, on the exterior are plastic bumpers, chrome and rubber strips that protect the vehicle from bumps and scrapes.

Interior trim includes upholstery, carpeting and door panels etc.

MG ZR MG trim comes in different standards or levels, such as base, i.e. cloth upholstery, the least expensive; mid-level such as vinyl or faux leather upholstery, which is moderately expensive; and high end, the most expensive, which can include chrome strips, leather upholstery and wood grain trim.

Most trim is held in place with push pull fixings and/or screws.

MG ZR MG trim is usually replaced for reasons of damage due to general wear and tear.

MG trivia

  • Modern MG cars have a dazzling array of technology options. Owners can opt for an eight-inch colour touchscreen, satellite navigation, keyless entry, power tailgate, electric folding mirrors, and a one-touch start button. The MG RX5 is very sporty looking, but it’s hiding a lot of tech on the inside.
  • The current MG range is rolling out of the production factory in Shanghai at a rate of 880 units per day. The manufacturing plant is a whopping 1.2 million square metres, and had led SAIC Motor to sell a LOT of cars. In 2018 alone, SAIC sold over 7 million vehicles.
  • It’s still a British brand, but MG is now under SAIC Motor, China’s biggest vehicle manufacturer. SAIC Motor is one of the top-ranked Fortune 500 companies in the world, and exports more cars from China than any other manufacturer.
  • If you fancy trying out a more virtual MG experience, you can head to the SAIC Intelligent Plaza. The world’s only auto-driving experience that’s accessible to the general public, the Intelligence Plaza lets you play with VR test drives and intelligent robot butlers.
  • Quite a few celebrities have owned an MG. The Duke of Edinburgh had a TC model, while Prince Charles’ first ever car was a GT SHY 766F, which he loved so much that he kept it until he could pass it to Prince William. The King of Rock and Roll, Elvis, also had an MG, as did Geri Halliwell and Sharon Stone.
