About Parking Sensor

Specifically designed for the make and model of your vehicle, the C4 Citroen parking sensor is a handy device that can go a long way to preserving the bodywork of your vehicle by helping you to avoid collisions while parking.

A parking sensor is essentially a proximity sensor which can sense when an object is close. This clever sensor helps you to park your car by measuring distance from nearby objects, such as a wall or another car, indicating when you are getting close to the object by emitting a beeping or buzzing noise. With most parking sensors, the closer the car gets to the object, the more fast paced the beeping becomes, designed to alert the driver to the nearing proximity of the object and the impending collision. Parking sensors are particularly useful when trying to squeeze into a small parking space with little room to maneuver and can help you to avoid damaging your car or someone else's car or property.

Parking sensors can be either ultrasonic or electromagnetic sensors, and are placed at both the front and rear of the vehicle, usually housed in the corner end of each bumper. The parking sensors work in conjunction with a control unit which will be located in the car, usually on the dashboard. When the parking sensors detect an object within close proximity, a message is sent to the control unit which activates the beeping alert. Some parking sensor kits provide digital readouts on a screen which tell the driver the distance of the object from the car and some are fitted with a camera. There are a whole range of parking sensors on the market. It's worth investing in the C4 Citroen parking sensor to ensure compatibility with the make and model of your vehicle.

Generally proximity sensors are very accurate and dependable and usually have a long working life. Problems can occur with the parking sensors, however, and indication that there's a fault can come in the absence of a beep or a change in the usual pattern of the beep when parking the vehicle. The sensors can get blocked and if there are problems such as water seeping into the wiring loom, this can cause the sensors to malfunction. Getting advice from a professional to establish the fault is always a good idea. When you need to replace the parking sensors on your vehicle or are looking to fit parking sensors for the first time, choosing the C4 Citroen parking sensor will guarantee complete compatibility with the make and model of your car.

Citroen trivia

  • At a recent count, Citroën cars have appeared in just under 1,800 films, with the most famous being the Citroën used in the James Bond film, For Your Eyes Only. That film even had a tie-in car, a special edition Citroën that was emblazoned with the 007 logo and optional bullet hole stickers for the windows.
  • Buying Maserati was definitely a mistake for Citroën. The SM model didn't sell well, and that led to financial difficulties that meant the car company was eventually acquired by Peugeot.
  • Between 1925 and 1935, the Eiffel Tower was just a big, pointy billboard with the word 'Citroën' in bright lights from top to bottom. This was the first use of lights to advertise on the tower, and Citroën renewed the adverts every year until they were bought out by Michelin.
  • The Citroën 2CV Safari had some crazy extra features. It was a four-wheel-drive vehicle, and Citroën decided that four-wheel drive meant that it would be better to have two engines...one at the front and one at the back. The fuel cap sticks out of the driver's door, and the tank was right under the driver's seat!
  • Unfortunately, the founder of Citroën went bankrupt in 1934, even though the cars they produced were selling well and incredibly popular. The company exists today because tyre company Michelin bought the majority of shares in the company.
