A steering column stroud cover is a component that is designed to preserve the integrity of the steering column in front of the dashboard of the car. The steering column is the mechanism that connects the steering wheel to the steering mechanism and transfers the input of the driver, in turning the steering wheel, to the movement of the wheels themselves. In addition, the steering column section of the car houses various electrical components and wires as this location allows easy access to other areas of the electrical system such as the fuse box.
A steering column stroud cover is generally made from plastic and is coloured black. It comes in two separate pieces. One of these is fitted below the steering column whilst the other is attached to the top side. Both sections have pre-drilled screw holes. These two pieces are joined together to completely enclose the steering column.
As it is important to ensure that no part of the steering column is exposed, it is essential to replace the steering column stroud cover if it is damaged. The part is inexpensive and easily replaceable. Because of its straightforward design it is also relatively simple to fix a new steering column stroud cover to a car’s steering column.
