About Indicator Switch Stalks

The Nissan indicator switch stalk is generally mounted on a car's steering column with the primary function of switching on the car's left or right turn indicator lights. They are designed to allow the driver to easily operate the indicator lights without having to remove their hands from the steering wheel.

On some Nissan indicator switch stalks there are additional buttons or switches for other car functions such as cruise control, horn or headlamp modes.

The Nissan indicator stalk switch is an electromechanical component; electronic switches and a mechanism for cancelling or switching off the indicator as the steering when is rotated.

The Nissan indicator stalk switch is generally maintenance and problem free although like all components can be prone to wear and tear and accidental damage. This can include failure of the cancellation mechanism or electrical faults due to burnt out switches of short circuits.

Nissan trivia

  • Since 2018, Nissan has become the largest manufacturer of electric vehicles in the world. They have so far produced as many as 320,000 electric cars.
  • Most people think of the Skyline when they think of the Nissan, but the car featured in the Fast and the Furious franchise wasn't actually designed or built by Nissan. Instead, it was built by a car company called Prince, which Nissan merged with in 1966. The name Prince was phased out, and the Nissan Skyline was born.
  • The Nissan Patrol is a powerhouse of a vehicle, and currently holds the world record for a production car pulling an aircraft. The SUV wasn’t allowed any modifications to tackle this impressive feat, and managed to pull the 170-tonne plane a massive 50 metres.
  • Nissan and the French manufacturer Renault have had a long and successful partnership, sharing technologies and manufacturing resources.
  • Talk about a long drive, in 1964, the Nissan Cedric drove all the way from Greece to Japan as part of the Tokyo Olympics!
