About Landing Slam Bodys
A SEAT landing slam body is an extremely important part of a motor vehicle’s construction that assists in minimising the damage that the vehicle might sustain in a front end collision. The SEAT landing slam body panel can be found beneath the vehicle’s bonnet. It is made up of a rigid metal cross section that extends across the front of the car. Its primary role is to protect the parts that are located in the engine compartment and at the front of the vehicle. It also has a secondary role in that the vehicle’s headlights and its front grille are also attached to it.
As with all metal car body parts the SEAT landing slam body is liable to damage and wear and tear through rusting. Although this type of damage can be minimised by keeping the part as clean as possible it will sometimes become necessary to replace it, especially if it is damaged in a collision. Although a replacement SEAT landing slam body may be relatively easily accessed from a motor parts supplier, because of the potential difficulty in fitting it and the importance that it plays in protecting various vital components of the vehicle, it may be prudent to have it professionally fitted by a qualified motor mechanic.
SEAT trivia
- 2019 was the best year of sales for SEAT when it sold an impressive 574,100 cars.
- SEAT is an acronym that is much, much easier to say than Sociedad Española de Automóviles de Turismo.
- The SEAT factory in Martorell is powered by solar panels and is expected to produce as much as 13 million kWh of electricity every year.
- SEAT had a 30-year close relationship with Fiat. However, it ended on a sour note when the companies went their separate ways, and Fiat tried to sue SEAT for similarities between the SEAT Ronda and the Fiat Ritmo. SEAT won the case after using a yellow highlighter to show the court all of the differences between the two cars.
- The first production car for SEAT was the 1400 Saloon. It was a success even before it started rolling out, with 10,000 pre-orders. At the time, it cost over 121,000 pesetas, which is around £35k today. The facilities that SEAT had back then could only make five cars a day.
