About Wiring Looms

The Suzuki Wiring Loom is a set of wires strapped together designed to begin and terminate at specific points in the vehicle. The loom is rather like the London Underground Map with different coloured wires running from one point in the vehicle to another. During manufacture these looms are premade with the wires strapped together and shaped to run a certain route through the car's structure. The looms can be separate pieces that connect at junction points.

These looms run through channeling in the car body, under carpets behind roof lining and behind the car dashboard. These connect the electrical power required for the functioning of the engine, and all equipment requiring electrical power.

Faults can occur in the Suzuki Wiring Loom due to short circuiting, over heating, fire damage or crash damage.

Suzuki trivia

  • Suzuki has joined forces with a Japanese firm called Hukato to try and win the Lunar XPrize announced by Google. The winning entrant is the first to land a vehicle on the moon and take high-def pictures of at least a 500 metre section of the moon.
  • Suzuki sold its first car, the 360cc Suzulight, in 1955. Before that, the company generally made looms, then bicycles.
  • Known for their motorbikes as much as their cars, Suzuki is the builder of the world's fastest bike, the Hayabusa. It has been clocked at over 186mph.
  • General Motors still has a 3% share in Suzuki, although this is considerably less than they used to have. Suzuki bought back 17% of the shares that GM had after the company started losing money in 2006.
  • The 2011 Suzuki Q concept car was a huge embarrassment for the car company. The electric vehicle was ridiculed as looking like a fishbowl, and could only manage a six-mile range.
