About Trim

Trim is a general term for the cosmetic finish to the assembly method in the manufacture of vehicles. The trim tends to differ according to whether the vehicle is standard, mid-range or a luxury model.

Trim is found extensively on the interior and exterior of all vehicles.

Examples of Micra Nissan trim, on the exterior are plastic bumpers, chrome and rubber strips that protect the vehicle from bumps and scrapes.

Interior trim includes upholstery, carpeting and door panels etc.

Micra Nissan trim comes in different standards or levels, such as base, i.e. cloth upholstery, the least expensive; mid-level such as vinyl or faux leather upholstery, which is moderately expensive; and high end, the most expensive, which can include chrome strips, leather upholstery and wood grain trim.

Most trim is held in place with push pull fixings and/or screws.

Micra Nissan trim is usually replaced for reasons of damage due to general wear and tear.

Nissan Micra trivia

  • The debut of the Nissan Micra in the world of motorsport was way back in 1987, and the car was so popular that there are now dedicated Micra Rallies and challenges around the world.
  • The plant in Sunderland where the Nissan Micra was being made from its UK launch hit the million-car mark in 1998. It was the first Japanese car manufacturer to hit that impressive milestone in Britain.
  • It might be called the Nissan Micra here in the UK, but it's the Nissan March in Japan, and it's also been named the Datsun Micra as well.
  • The Nissan Micra is a very security-aware car and was the top-ranking car when What Car? magazine carried out a 'security supertest' back in 2003. In 2005, it also won the 'keyless go' test carried out by Thatcham.
  • When the Nissan Micra was released in 1983, it could go from 0-60 in 15-seconds, could hit 90mph, and managed 45mpg. All that, and it only costs £4,150! In today's money, with inflation, that would be £14,096.42.
