About Ignition Switch
The 3008 Peugeot ignition switch is situated inside the vehicle, usually on the steering column or dashboard. It can be key-activated with a barrel lock mechanism, but some vehicles use a keyless ignition system that is operated by pressing a button on a key fob.
The 3008 Peugeot ignition switch activates all of the main electrical systems in the vehicle including the radio, lights and windows. It ignites the fuel and air combination of the combustion engine and allows the starter motor to operate. The battery is also engaged once the ignition switch is turned.
If the 3008 Peugeot ignition switch is not working, you will not be able to start the vehicle without bypassing the ignition switch, as it locks when not in use. To bypass the ignition switch, the wiring will have to be disconnected and manipulated directly, behind a panel in the steering column - otherwise known as hotwiring.
It is also possible that the switch will operate, but will not turn when the key is inserted. This could be caused by a worn key or the steering column binding. In the case of the latter, this is sometimes solved by wiggling the steering wheel back and forth.

- In 1913, one of Peugeot's motorsports team, Jules Goux, not only won the Indianapolis 500 but also broke the World Speed Record. He was the first European to win the Indy 500, and the 7.6-litre car was dubbed the fastest vehicle of the time.
- It was also in 1913 (some might say because of the Indy 500 win) that Peugeot were responsible for the production of half of all of the cars in France. That quickly made them one of the world's biggest names in the automotive industry.
- The first diesel engine prototype from Peugeot was built in the 1930s, but they didn't start releasing models commercially until 1959 (the 403).
- It's hard to believe, but the Peugeot company was founded in 1810! Of course, it didn't make cars then. Instead, it built pepper mills, salt mills and, eventually bicycles. It wasn't until 1889 that the first Peugeot car was made (they only made four of them, and they were powered by steam).
- Peugeot might not be a name in Formula 1 (they did try a few times, but it never quite worked out), but they have been dominant in other races. In particular, four victories in an incredible 24 hours at Le Mans, and six impressive wins in the Dakar rally, to name just a few.
