About Speedometer

A vehicle’s Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer is a gauge or meter that measures the speed of a motor vehicle. Is does this by measuring the speed at which the wheels are rotating and communicating this to the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer head, which then displays this as the vehicle’s speed.

There are two principal means by which the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer system communicates the necessary information to the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer head. The first of these is by way of a speedometer cable. This is a lengthy, flexible cable that comprises a collection of wires connected to the drive shaft, which turns as the wheels do. The rotation of the drive shaft causes the cable to turn which causes a magnet within a cup inside the speedometer head to turn. This causes currents that produce motion which, in turn, causes the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer dial to move and demonstrate the vehicle’s speed.

The second means of transmitting information to the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer head is electronically, by means of a Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer transducer. The Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer transducer is normally attached to the vehicle’s transmission and is an electronic pulse generator. It sends signals to the car’s computer as to how quickly the wheels are turning and this information is translated by the computer into the speed that is displayed by the Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer.

In either type of Vivaro Vauxhall speedometer system there are various components that are susceptible to failure but, fortunately, all of these are easily replaced.

Vauxhall Vivaro trivia

  • In 2020, the Vivaro-e was revealed, the first all-electric version of the popular van.
  • The payload in a Vauxhall Vivaro L2H1 is an impressive 1,415kg. If that seems like a lot, that's because it is. It's almost double what you can store in a Citroen Dispatch. You're rarely going to run out of space in a Vivaro.
  • The loading bay on a Vauxhall Vivaro doesn't have just one door, and it's not stuck with the traditional two either. That's right; there are three doors: the back door plus two side doors. Most vans have just a single side door, often making unloading a tricky task.
  • All Vauxhall Vivaros made after 2016 had the addition of a Made in Britain badge, located at the back of the van.
  • You can choose the length of your Vauxhall Vivaro. The L1 and the L2 also come with the option of being a panel van or a double cab.
