About Glow Plugs Diesels

Glow plugs are used in a diesel engine instead of spark plugs. The primary function of a glow plug is to produce heat in order to help with the start up process in the engine. Unlike a petrol engine, the fuel that's injected into a diesel engine doesn't need a spark to ignite it. But when starting a diesel engine in cold conditions, some extra help is required, which is where the glow plug system comes into action.

The Mazda glow plugs sensor diesel is a temperature sensor that detects when the glow plugs/cylinder heads have reached the desired heat for ignition and this information is used by the glow plug relay to determine when to switch the electrical current to the glow plugs off.

Glow plugs are normally installed in the cylinder head and are wired up to the car's battery. The glow plug sensor is positioned on the cylinder head, on the heater hose fitting.

It's important to ensure all components of the glow plug system on your vehicle are in excellent condition and working well. Signs that there may be a fault with the glow plug system are an engine that struggles to start or won't start at all. It's always a good idea to consult with your mechanic when engine problems strike, to make sure the correct fault has been indentified. There are a number of parts that could go wrong in the glow plug set up so making sure you have found the correct faulty part before buying replacement parts is advisable. When you need to change the glow plugs sensor, a good quality Mazda glow plugs sensor diesel will guarantee a part that fits well, performs properly and has a long service life.

  • The first vehicle that Mazda ever produced was a three-wheeled truck called the Mazda-go. Only 66 were built in total for its release in 1931.
  • Mazda is the only Japanese car manufacturer not to be based in Tokyo. Instead, they work out of Hiroshima and were there when a nuclear bomb was dropped. The Mazda factories actually survived the atomic bomb thanks to a small mountain being in the way.
  • The small, lightweight RX-3 caused a huge uproar in the '70s when it won the Japanese Grand Prix touring car category. The reason for the shock was that it beat the Skyline GT-R!
  • Mazda has always been big fans of the rotary engine, and although they originally started using them to help distinguish themselves from other car manufacturers, they are still the only car manufacturer to mass-produce rotary engine-powered vehicles.
  • The Mazda logo is meant to be an owl, expressing Mazda's goal of expanding its wings for the future.
