About Roof Rack Clips
Different models of cars have different types of roof rack. Some vehicles have factory built roof racks, whilst others have rain gutters to which a roof rack can easily be attached. Some vehicles simply have a bare roof and for these vehicles a different type of roof rack system has to be employed.
These types of roof rack systems are made up from a variety of different components that are all combined to attach the roof rack securely to the roof of the car. One of the most popular roof racks is the tower version. This consists of four towers, which are attached to the four corners of vehicle’s roof by a Toyotaroof rack clip. Load bars are then connected to the towers, running across the vehicle to serve as a mounting point. An alternative roof rack system involves the attachment of feet, rather than towers.
Most roof rack sets are lockable, to prevent theft, and are also designed with aerodynamics in mind. Roof rack kit suppliers will be happy to advise on the type of system that is suitable for a particular model of vehicle, including the type and number of Toyotaroof rack clips that will be required and the most secure means of fitting the roof rack to the car.
Toyota trivia
- It's not exactly a secret, but surprisingly few people are aware that Toyota also makes a couple of other brand-name cars. That's because they own or partially own Lexus, Subaru, and Scion.
- The founder's son, Kiichiro Toyoda, did a trip around the US to get inspiration for car designs. That's why those early Toyota cars look more than a little bit like Chevrolets and Dodge Power Wagons.
- Without the US, Toyota very likely wouldn't exist today as we know it. In 1950, the car company was struggling to fight off bankruptcy and only managed to make 300 trucks until the Korean War kicked off. The US then put in an order for 5,000 vehicles, transforming the company and its future.
- Although Toyota started making its first cars in 1937, these were specifically produced to contribute to Japan's war effort. It wasn't until 1947 that they started producing cars for civilians.
- Incredibly, there are more Toyota made cars on the world's roads than any other vehicle. It's not just high sales figures that make that viable either. Their durability means that even Toyotas that were sold 20 years ago are still on the road!
