History of Citroen cars
Founded in 1919 by French industrialist André-Gustave Citroën, Citroën was the first car company to introduce mass-production methods outside the USA. It is this reputation for innovation and revolutionary engineering that has earned Citroën a strong following and inspired its ‘Créative Technologie’ slogan. Now part of the PSA Peugeot Citroën group, the company has previously been recognised as Europe’s largest car manufacturer and has received national and international level recognition. This includes three European Car of the Year awards. After the Second World War, Citroen increased their production considerably. In 1970, they reached a target car production of almost three-quarters of a million vehicles manufactured in a year. By 1999 they broke the one million, in a year mark. Citroen now has manufacturing plants all over the world including Spain, France, Brazil and the Czech Republic. This just endorses the ever growing need for Citroen parts, with many cars now on the UK roads.
